I remember when my life had so much activity, that I could blog a post almost on a daily basis. I thought my life would get more interesting as I aged, but it looks like it's done quiet the opposite.
I would like to change that, but it seems stupid shit keeps getting in the way of any fun that may be had....doing home repairs, helping Skye find her first car, rain, etc. You name it, it's been there.
Oh, and did I mention Jury Duty??? Yep, For the second time since I've lived in Texas I got a jury duty summons. Last time I got out of it by using the excuse I had small children (Skye) that could not be left alone and that I didn't have care for.
This time there was no excuse I could use listed on their exemption checklist, so I had to buck up and do my civic duty of sitting at the courthouse waiting for jury selection. I considered it a slow form of torture in more than just a few ways.
When ordered into the courtroom for selection, it felt more like I was the one on trial with their multitude of questions and inspection of facial expressions and responses. Feeling desperate, I just made sure I answered and agreed to the opposite of what the majority was agreeing to. I've always had the belief that if general society agrees to it, it's not my belief. I also threw in a little bit of "crazy lady" to seal the deal that I would not be selected.
I had the luxury of having Toby drop me off the first day, but the thoughts of having to find parking in an area of downtown Austin that I was unfamiliar with for the next couple of days, was sending my anxiety through the roof.
Luckily, my lack of cooperation with a bit of crazy lady thrown in must have worked and I was relieved of my civic duty after the first day.
At least, there was a nice view while I wasted 4 hours of my day I'll never get back....
On Easter Sunday, me and Skye went for a walk at the park....
Emily sent me a picture of Lucas on Easter Sunday. What a handsome man and so sweet. Love him...
There was a really bright sunset the other night after the rain....
Skye found a baby Blue Jay in the yard the other day, she kept it safe from the cat until it could get strong enough to fly away....
Skye got her first job at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. She likes to work in the back when she's doing the manual labor, but doesn't like it when she goes out to stock and the customers ask her questions she doesn't know the answers to yet. She also says Walmart wastes a lot of food, which she said is sad. Makes me cringe too, but I'm sure Walmart is not the only store/restaurant that wastes food, America itself is wasteful and greedy, but that would be a whole other blog.
I hope to have more interesting things to post in the next few weeks. Hope is a word that means hopeful, and right now that's all I have.

Double Day Hike
It was such a beautiful weekend that Toby and I decided to take advantage of the weather and spend it outdoors.
Tuesday we hiked around Town Lake. We started at Festival Beach and made a big loop around the portion of the lake...
It was actually a hot day, but our hike was enjoyable anyway...
There was a kid's community garden...
I notice there is not as much graffiti as there used to be around town. Looks like a lot of it has been painted over. It takes away from the city, in my opinion. I always love seeing the graffiti painted all over town, as long as it was tasteful. I suppose that's just the artsy part of me speaking...
After our hot hike, margarita's sounded really good....
Wednesday, we hiked Bull Creek. Bull Creek is my favorite hike around town....
It was still a bit too chilly to dip into our favorite swimming spot, but at least it was flowing again...
Every time I see a heart shaped leaf, I feel like it's nature giving me a hello kiss...
Bull Creek is absolutely beautiful at this time of the year, I'm itching to go back already.
Since Bo's hip and joints seem to be doing so much better with his diet change, we've been taking him to the park to run. He's like a kid in the candy store, and so am I. I love morning hikes at the park.
Tons of wildflowers dotted the entire park...
I absolutely love these trees. I have no idea what they're called, but their gold color stands out beautifully from a distance against all the green from the other trees...
They have little gold fluffy balls all over them...
Here's a couple of small clips of Bo enjoying his morning at the park....
