Boerne

Yesterday, Toby and I took a day trip to Boerne, Texas. Pronounced "Bernie" for those of you reading who aren't familiar with some of our strange named Texas cities.

We first stopped and checked out the Cibolo Nature Center.....

There were some real dino tracks....

And a lookout. Not sure what it was a lookout for because there was nothing but trees surrounding it....

The Cibolo Creek was really beautifully with all the old Cypress Trees....

Toby displaying his "sexy"  pose, it would be a lot better if he'd drop those white socks he wears...

Next, we drove on to Market Street in Boerne. There was a nice park trail that ran through the city. We only walked half of the trail because we didn't realize until we were leaving that it continued on underneath the street bridge....

The ducks were so much fun to watch....

We walked up to the main street and walked it too....

This restaurant table had swings as chairs, how cool is that?!!

 Herbie...

This tree looked cool to me because it was white...

Here a couple of short videos of our day....

It was a fun day, although there was a wreck on 35 that delayed our trip home by an hour.

Esther's and the Dump

The last couple of weeks I don't have any photos to post, but I wanted to log this just for future reference of the timeline of my life.

Last week I got together with my friend Robin. Since she has moved to Bastrop, we've gone from seeing each other every week to only every few months. I would love to be able to foster my personal friendships more, but sometimes odd schedules, families and busy lives keep me being able to do that. It's a sad, but true story.

So, me and Robin met up at Barkley Meadows Park for a picnic lunch and walked and chatted while Luci Blue (her dog) ran along beside us. Barkley Meadows Park reminds me a lot of East Metro, my local park. It's quiet, in the middle of nowhere and never crowded.

After the park, we drove to the Texas Disposal Landfill....aka The Dump. The dump is the landfill's "store" where they salvage anything that was picked up as bulk trash and is still in good condition and sell it to the public for an affordable price. I found me and outdoor lounge chair in perfect condition for $10.

It was a fun day, and being with Robin that day made me really miss female companionship.

Last Friday we introduced our guy friends, Dean and Ruben to Esther's Follies. This place is so much fun, I've been a few times and it's entertaining each time I go. The guys loved it. After the show we went to Baby A's for margaritas for National Margarita Day. Seems like everyone else had the same idea, because the streets and restaurants were chock full of alcoholics.

I wish I had pictures to post, but I hang out with people who aren't really into proving how much fun they're having by posting selfies all over social media, but I would still love to have some for memories sake.

Maybe I will remember to take pics next time I'm hanging with friends.

Purgatory Creek Natural Area

Today we drove out of town a bit to San Marcos for our weekly hike to Purgatory Creek Natural Area. There are several different trails that intertwine through the preserve, so, not being familiar with any of them, we just started walking.

The entrance to the trail...

We ended up hiking the Beatrice Trail. This particular trail ran alongside Purgatory Creek and a huge dam....

This appeared to be part of an old road. We were going to explore it more, but there were some people down inside of it....

It was a really pretty hike. A nice and shady trail with a lot of greenery...

I love this Lamb's Ear plant. The leaves are so soft....

Purgatory Creek. This section of the creek was bone dry...

You can't tell it from this pic, but this was a really steep hill to climb up...

Spanish moss. You don't see much moss like this around here. Made me miss Alabama just a bit...

There are about 10 miles of trails through area, we only hiked close to four. We plan to go back and explore the Dante Trail next time...

It was a good hike. I would recommend it.
