Happy Yakky Birthday

In the past, whenever I would see someone on a kayak I would think to myself, 'That looks like so much fun' But my fear of the water kept me from ever entertaining the thought of getting on one. But when Karen came for her visit and insisted I would love it, I gave it a try. I was glad I did because I found that I do really enjoy it. It took a couple of kayaks before I found one that I felt sturdy enough in to venture out far from the shore in.

So, this year we celebrated Toby's 47th birthday by taking the yaks out to Barton Springs. It was AMAZING once you got into Barton Springs canal. The water was crystal clear so you could see all the turtles and fish up close and personal. I felt like I was in another world.

Here's the spot where there aquatic animal underworld is....

Parked for a dip in the springs...

It started to rain on us, but it wasn't lightening and we were already wet so we didn't care..

It was a great day for a birthday out on the water.

Family Visit

It's been a busy year for company. About a week after Karen left my brother and his family drove in for a visit. Then Lucas and his family show up a couple of days later. It was so nice to have all - or most of my family all together again and for me to be able to spend time with my grandbaby, Little Luke...

Karen's Visit - July 2021

In July a childhood friend came to visit from Portland, Oregon.

It was a pleasant, but very busy visit. Karen has a lot of energy and she wanted to make the most of her vacation so she kept us moving.

We went Kayaking. My first time ever and I was hooked....

San Marcos Aquarena....

Buccees....

Cameron Park Zoo in Waco...

Downtown Austin, Texas. She's a northern gal, I think I almost killed her one day walking around in the heat. She got heat exhaustion. I warned her...

Downtown San Antonio. We rode the boat, it was fun...

Karen wanted some Texas BBQ so we took her to Southside in Hutto and spotted a hippo for a photo opp....

It was a super busy week but it was nice to see Karen again.

RESUMING - 2021 Corpus Christi

Last year I made a decision to end blogging my family life in a journal. Since then, I have decided that I really miss looking back on our daily life and that we indeed still have so many moments that need to be captured.

So here I go again for nothing more than my own account of our life goings on, mostly in pictures.

Last May me and Skye decided to take a girls only vacay to Corpus Christi. It turned out to be one of the most pleasurable experiences we've had together, ever.

We stayed on the bay and I have to say that the most enjoyable part was not having to worry about waiting around on Toby to poop ten times before we could leave the room, or having to walk Bo before we did anything. In a nutshell, it was nice not having the guys hold us back. We ate where we wanted to, planned what we wanted to do, and didn't have to rush.

A lot of sail boats to watch....

We had a great view of the marina from our room.....

Morning coffee and nice views....

We visited the Texas State Aquarium and did a lot of sight seeing around the city...

We've decided we're going to have a girls trip every year.
