Copperfield Nature Trail

Another beautiful day was spent with some outdoor hiking. The Copperfield Nature Trail is never crowded and very peaceful...

See anything hiding in the brush?
The trail ended at a portion of Walnut Creek we had never hiked, so we hiked along the creek for awhile until the trail ended into a neighborhood.

Penny Lane

We looped on around out of the neighborhood onto the main road until we made it back to our car. It was a nice hike.

Here's a little extra photo I took of a piece of fruit from the Osage Orange Tree that are popular in our area. Kids usually like to throw them like baseballs where you'll find them splattered all over the streets....

Hiking and Biking

We were blessed with another couple of beautiful fall days this week, so we headed downtown to Town Lake for a bike ride around the lake. Skye was off and went with us.....

Yesterday me and Toby hiked Violet Crown Trail

Gus Fruh was bone dry, as it is usually most of the year. Consider yourself lucky if you ever see it full of water. We have only two times in our whole twelve years living here...

The fall colors were beautiful...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this wall of rock...so majestic..and very dangerous. You never know when one of the boulders will drop off...

Trying to find the trail on the other side of the creek to walk back on, we ended up hiking a portion of the dry creek looking for it....

Here's the map of our hike, just shy of four miles, but the elevations are what gives these hikes oomph.

McKinney Roughs

Another nice day, called for another hike. This time we headed to McKinney Roughs, it's been a good ten years or more since we've been there.

The trail was steep and hilly for the most part, so we got in another good leg workout. A lot of decent views along the way....

After about a mile downhill trek we made it to the Colorado River. It was so serene and pretty...

A good portion of the trail meandered along the river....

I absolutely fell in love with these little cacti. I had never seen this type before, aren't they so cute?!

Here's my map of the loop we made...

It's been an amazing couple of days enjoying the beautiful outdoors, thank you Mother Nature for cooperating with us.
