Belton Birthday

For Toby's birthday this year we headed to Belton, Texas. It's a cute little city nearby Lake Belton.

The heat was intense, but we still managed to walk around and enjoy the sites of the city...

We also visited the Bell County Museum...

I'm no Black Lives Matter proponent, but I'm pretty sure during this time it was very unsettling for a person of color and they probably knew what real racism looked like...

This display was in a glassed in area outside of the museum, so with the glass glare it was hard to get a decent picture...

Next, we headed to check out the lake...

The birthday boy standing under the biggest Cottonwood Tree I've ever seen....

It was a fun day and a short drive away. We plan on exploring more of the area when it cools off a bit.

Walnut Creek

Yesterday Toby and I went on a walk on Walnut Creek. It was an interesting walk, a new portion of the trail we had never been on. To break of the monotony of a trail we like to sometimes explore the little splinter trails off of the main trail. It usually never disappoints.

The creek was not as dry as we expected it to be, it's usually bone dry by this time of year...

Interesting, creepy little thing tucked away in a tree...

Here are a couple of pics from my morning trail walks...
