Thursday

Today was Summer's homeschool end of the year skating party. Skating is something that Summer has just recently mastered so she really had a good time. Toby was right along with her out there so he got in a little excercise too. Needless to say, the only excercise I got was with my mouth. I don't get much female adult interaction so I really enjoyed the chit chat with the other moms. When we got home there was a message on my answering machine from my dad. He say's he has a surprise for me and wants me to come over. In all my years my dad has never had a "surprise" for me so my interest in really piquied. My dad has never been one to keep secrets and when he has had something for me he has always immediatley told me what it was. Well, we will see tommorrow......I told him it better not be anything that's alive and needs to be taken care of. :-)

Wednesday

We had our usual day of running around....my favorite, the thrift store and then to eat at Chili's. Last week Summer and I had found a food chain gift card laying in a parking lot. I picked it up and called the number on the back of it and it was fully loaded with $25. Since there is no way to find a lost gift cards owner I took it as a gift from the universe and said "thank you". It was also a rainy day so later on Summer and I made our weekly library trip. I let her pick out a few books and then I pick out some educational ones. Being the outside girl that Summer is, when we got home she insisted on going outside and playing in the rain. I figured, why not, it's not lightening and I always loved playing in the rain as a child. We finally got in some school around 6:00p.m. I know why I don't make a habit of doing school in the evening now......Summer nor I can stay focused after a full day of activity.

Tuesday

I slept a little later than I normally do today but I guess it didn't really matter because we had no big plans. Actually, we had a kind of relaxing day. Our schedule is weird because of Toby's schedule so we go to bed late and sleep late, and by the time we get school in it makes us get out of the house a little later to do our "running around" which doesn't give us much time before Toby has to be at work by 3:00 p.m. Long story made short....it's a good thing we homeschool or Summer would never get to spend time with her Daddy and vice versa. So....we ended up playing a couple of games and hanging out. Summer was feeling up to par today so she was back to her bouncing self again which always makes mama have to work a little harder. :-)

memorial day

Summer is still battling her cold so she slept a little later than usual today, which is always good because it gives me a chance to get up a little early in the morning and get in some "me" time. After she got up and got moving we did some our computer schoolwork. We didn't get too much in because she still didn't feel all that well so I didn't push her..but she did end up doing some other educational computer stuff on her own. Our plan for the holiday was to go over to Charlie's house and cookout. We haven't seen ole Charles in a while so we had a good time catching up on gossip and socializing. Then we came back home and Toby and Summer swam in the pool for a little while while I sat out on the swing and chilled. All in all a good day.

A day at paw paw's

Yesterday Lucas, Summer and I took a trip to see my dad and his wife. We always have a good time out there because it is a much "quiter" place than where we live. We even got in a little schooling. Summer saw a fruit bearing grapevine, blueberry bush, and a pear tree. She has never seen any of these bearing fruit.....and neither have I now that I think about it. Of course, my dad thinks the world of my son so they had the usual man chit chat time. I realized my very highly active little girl seemed a little slower than usual yesterday and by the time we got home she was running a fever and doing some coughing. I dosed her up with some tylenol and she layed down for about 15 min. then she was back at it again. That girl does not let much of anything stop her from activity. I actually sometimes look forward to her slight illnesses because they slow her down enough for me to keep up with her!

My introduction

It so hard to start out a blog in the middle of your life but I will do my best. I say I am on my second life because I am 43 years old and have a 19 year old son from a first marriage and a 6 year old girl from my second. And when they say life gets better and easier with age, I'm here to second that! One day in one of my "think about my past" moments I said to my husband "I can't believe I have done some of the things that I did that had a hurtful inpact on myself and my son". He just looked at me and asked me if I had learned anything from these "past experiences". Of course, I had to say that I had learned alot. Anyway, nowdays my life consists mostly of entertaining and teaching my 6 year old homeschooled daughter and being there for my son and husband when needed. I have to say that I truly enjoy doing what I do. I love being there for my kids and not missing any part of their daily lives. I spent most of my life trying to figure out what my purpose in this world was and in the recent years I found out that it was just to love, to love my children and my husband so that they may be able to pass that love around. After all, isn't love what makes the world go round????
