Barton Creek

This week's adventures took us to Barton Creek. We entered through an area we have not been in a decade, so it was a nice change from our usual entry points to the greenbelt....

Some guy was bravely slacklining across....

It was a good hike and we rewarded ourselves with a margarita afterward and got to see Santa on a horse as a bonus...

We Found A Cave! Reimers Ranch

I've decided that I would spend this hiking season finding new trails that we have not hiked yet in the area. Yesterday we ventured to Milton Reimer's Ranch. It was a $10 charge to get into the ranch, but it was well worth the money.

The pictures online did not do this place justice, the scenery was absolutely beautiful....

We found an actual cave too, we could only go so far in as we didn't have a flashlight and our phone flashlight was not bright enough for us to see any distance ahead of us....

I recommend a trip to Reimer's Ranch at least once in your life, well worth the trip.

Hot Springs Vacay

In September 2021 Toby and I went on a solo vacation to Hot Springs Arkansas. I've never been anywhere out of the southeastern US and I wanted to explore another area outside of Texas. First, we stopped in Dallas overnight to break the trip up. We visited the Dallas Arboretum.....

The next day we drove on to Hot Springs. It really didn't look much different than the Texas Hill Country...

The Bathhouses were different than we expected. We didn't partake in any of the baths...

Hot Springs National Park, it's the first National Park I've ever visited....

We ate lunch here at this restaurant....

We visited the Alligator Farm...

We explored downtown Hot Springs...

For me, the most awesome thing about Hot Springs is that you could get free spring water straight from the tap in various locations throughout the city. There were people who just pull up with tons of containers to fill up their fresh spring water supply. I wish Austin provided something like that for our cold springs...

We visited a nearby Lake too...

I would definitely recommend Hot Springs as a tourist destination.
