Exploring Zilker Nature Preserve

Today we ventured Zilker Nature Preserve. Even though I've been there a few times over the years, it's been almost ten years since Toby has been there, and even though he couldn't remember ever having been there, I convinced him he had. After all, I keep track of our adventures via blog, so I have these memories etched in my mind...

Lookout point....

We wanted to explore more of the trails that extended from lookout but they just led to the road. We did see some beautiful colored Prickly Pear cactus along the way though....

We descended back down to the bottom of the trail and took the opposite end of the trail, something we have never done before....

This part of the trail must be so seldom traveled that a bird felt safe enough to build his nest right along the edge of the trail...

These bamboo type trees were so beautiful....

The "canyon" was absolutely beautiful, and so peaceful...

After we came out of the trail, we stopped by to say hi to the animals at the Nature Center...

The pond was loaded with some beautiful purple flowers....

We didn't explore around the Nature Center long because it was chock full of school children. We decided to cross the the pedestrian bridge under Mopac....it has a name, but I can't remember the name of it at the moment...

It was a short hike kind of day for us, but it was fun anyway..
