Spring Cleaning Debt

One of the reasons I believe Toby and I mesh so well together is that we both have the same idea of what we want our life to look like. A few of the ideas we share about life are simplicity, enjoying life to the fullest, and living as debt free as possible.

Acquiring a new business meant acquiring a little bit of credit card debt. We also have two vehicles - a motorcycle and a car - that have small balances left on them.

Unlike most Americans, we cringe at debt and keep it to a minimum preferring to make a large majority of our purchases -aside from our home and vehicles - with cash. When we do spend a little extra cash we prefer it to be on experiences rather than things.

We do understand the importance of good credit so we keep a personal credit card and pay the full balance on it every month.

Every few months I go through the house and 'spring clean', getting rid of things that we no longer need. It keeps me sane. I'm a minimalist to the core.

Same goes for my finances. So today Toby and I decided to take a very large chunk of our savings and pay off our full balance on our business credit card and the balance on my car.

It feels good to be debt free...other than our home, of course.
