I've gotten to where I like to go to Google maps, expand the map and look for the dashed lines that indicate hiking trails. This way I feel like I can find goodies I would have otherwise not known about.
I located one in Georgetown called the Pickett Trail that looked interesting. It's a trail located right off the San Gabriel Trail at Chautauqua Park.
It was a little confusing at first because we couldn't really tell where Pickett Trail began off of the San Gabriel Trail so we just started walking.....
We saw a path that led down past a cemetery, so we took it...
It led us straight down to the Blue Hole. It was a beautifully hot day and the water looked really refreshing, but we weren't dressed for swimming..
We explored some of the trails around Blue Hole but most of them dead ended to the main road...
We finally accidentally came upon the sign for Pickett Trail. This is where the real fun begins.....
The trail meandered along the San Gabriel River. The views and scenery were spectacular!..
There were a lot of rocks to climb up, down and over and some stairs too...
This was a pretty cool rock tunnel...
The main trail along the river ended, so we decided to take an exploratory trail off the beaten path...
The end of the exploratory trail, so we turned around and walked back the same way we came in...
It was a beautiful hike and a beautiful day, even the sunset showed off tonight....
