Recharge

Yesterday, we finally got to get out and enjoy some of Austin's natural beauty. It's been awhile since we've been on a good hike in nature. Toby says I use nature to recharge my batteries. In his words, I get really cranky when I'm not able to take a good hike outdoors.

We headed to Sculpture Falls and parked at the Mopac bridge entrance. It would give us a longer hike to the falls and would allow us to access Twin Falls at the same time. We haven't been there in a few years or more and I was hoping to get a few good pictures without folks all roosting on the rocks in their scantily clad apparel.

My advice when hiking anywhere on Barton Creek Greenbelt is to get there as early as possible if you don't want to share it with copious amounts of tourists and college kids.

From where we parked it was a good 3 mile hike. Some of our views along the trail....

We arrived at Twin Falls first. There were a lot of people there so we didn't stick around too long. Most folks will stop at Twin Falls first because only those who don't mind walking will take the extra mile and a half trek down to Sculpture Falls. I cropped the humans out of this pic...

Toby and I discussed how it didn't seem to take near as long to hike to the falls as what we remember. Then we rationalized the last time we came we had a bull dog and young child in tow. Bo had to stop and sniff/pee every few feet and Skye exploring every rock along the way. It's so much easier to enjoy the hike when it's just us. We are so much enjoying this solo phase of our life.

We made it to Sculpture. You can always hear it before you see it. The sound of the waterfalls along the way are just bliss...

Here's a short video I made....

We headed on down the trail to our favorite roosting spot on this particular part of the trail....

One more video for your viewing pleasure...

It was such a perfect, enjoyable day.
