On our itenarary was the Houston Zoo, The Museum of Natural Science, and to hang out with family we have in the Houston area.
It was a much welcomed getaway for us all and a rather pleasant and relaxing 3 days.
Here are the highlights:
My cousin Shannon, who lives just outside of Houston, and her little one Emma met us at the zoo...
The next day we headed to the Museum of Natural Science. Not that we didn't enjoy the zoo or the museum but for Houston to be such a large city I was not all that impressed with the zoo or the Science museum. In defense of both the zoo and the museum I guess I should say that homeschooling has led us to visit more than our share of zoos and museums so maybe we have finally just worn this sort of attraction out..
We really enjoyed Herman Park...
That evening we met up with my cousins at Gringo's. After the trauma of driving in one of the largest cities in the U.S. during peak traffic hour and a rain storm it was finally nice to arrive and sit down to one of my favorite cusinines with my Texas peeps....
Before we left out the next day we decided to reward Bo for being trapped un-kenneled in a hotel room for 2 days straight and not gnawing it up or having any "accidents", with a walk in Herman Park. We also wanted to explore it a little more...
While walking around Herman Park we came upon a Japanese Garden...
What kid can't resist a park?...
The drive to Houston is a very easy, short drive for us so I plan on exploring more of it this year.
Well, I for one would like to visit again. So relaxed after your little break.

ReplyDeleteYou prolly already know about this, but the Kemah Boardwalk in Galveston was pretty great when we visited 6 or 7 years ago. We liked petting the sting rays best. Also, the NASA space center was fun (but pricey, if I remember correctly). So if you haven't done that, next time you go to Houston, put Kemah Boardwalk on your list!
