November 1, 2009

I can't say my day went quite as well as yesterday did. I was a little off kilter all day long because of the time change.

Confusion started early this morning when Toby got out of the bed. I heard him get out of bed at 7:30, my clock's time. This never happens. Needless to say, it was nice to have coffee already brewed when I got up.

When I asked him why he was up so early he informed me that it was 8:30....hmmmmm, I could have sworn the clock said 7:30...

When I checked off the date on the calendar, I figured out where the time discrepancy was. I won't lie, I am relieved to see it getting dark a bit earlier. Maybe now I can get my family settled down a little earlier at night.

Anyway, today was a school day. Lately, school days are torture for everyone involved. I won't go into any boring details, but if anyone is learning anything around here it's how to hate each other. Homeschoolers and homeschooling books LIE, or either I am missing some pertinent or secret ingredient along the way.

My son will be here for the Thanksgiving holidays. I can't wait. We need some diversion and a ray of sunshine around here.

  1. Never had the desire to home school. Getting homework done was bad enough!

  2. I'm with ya on the school thing right now. I'm thinking of taking a break from all formal schoolin' and call myself an unschooler for the next month or so. Trouble is, I'm gonna have to do it again come mid-February when the new baby makes an appearance. We'll see.

It always amazes me how much 'school' stuff gets done and how many interesting discussions we have when we're not 'doing school'.

  3. I absolutely hate time changes each fall and spring. Just messes me up. I don't care which one gets chosen, but pick on and stay with it, says me.
